We’ll be hitting the leftover stash this week and working our way through the last of our CSA veggies. A bi-weekly schedule with one trip to the farmers’ market for a few “special” things in between pickups has worked like a charm – no rotting food, no panicked MUST-COOK feeling, and just enough variety to … Continue reading »

meal plan – swapper edition
My meal plan is a bit late in coming this week, because I was hoping to plan at least some of my week around the swapped goods I acquired at ATXswappers on Monday. If you live in Austin and have yet to make your way to one of them you MUST give it a try. … Continue reading »

Check what you have before pulling a meal plan together. Repeat. It may seem like the most obvious of steps, but I can’t tell you how many times I skip the physical step of opening the fridge and then end up planning an entire meal around a spinach that there are only 5-skimpy leaves of. … Continue reading »

Dude. Summer break is officially over. I deposited her at school this morning and the reality of filling my days starts now. Took the morning to get some work done after what I hope is the first of many early morning breakfast dates with him. Hard to switch gears so I am finding my way … Continue reading »

Saturday is when I tend to have time to think through what to eat in the coming days and subsequent week. focusing on what we have | meal plan – september 27

This tiny little list has made a … Continue reading »

My plans for a quiche and soup dinner last week were squashed by the heat, but I think that we may be nearing more seasonally appropriate temperatures (for Central Texas ayways) so I shall forge ahead with more plans for hearty meals and a couple that even require the oven. Dinner: Split Pea Soup | … Continue reading »

Craving lots of my mama’s food this week so I’m throwing in the Seitan con Papas and Tamales for a bit of home with a vegetarian twist. I’ve only planned through Friday, but am hoping to get some inspiration for those meals as the week progresses. Monday Breakfast: Tacos! Packed Lunch: Leftover Black Bean Veggie … Continue reading »
meal plan | week of july 11, 2011
We have seven weeks left of our summer break which means that it is time for me to step it up. I have ingredients for a full seven meals on hand right now and I am hoping that I can crank through it all by the middle of next week (at the latest) and have lots of leftovers on hand for lunches. Also hoping that I can whip my breakfast planning back into shape.
