comida mexicana all week

Posted on May 7, 2013 by aneelee • Leave a comment

We had to skip our CSA pickup this past weekend and I have not had time to hit one of the other local markets since, so the fresh veggie contingent in our house has been reduced to the handful of staples that are essential to a Mexican kitchen – tomatoes, onions, cilantro, potatoes, and chiles. … Continue reading »

Just last week I was going on and on (and on) about how much I LOVE the short winters here. Scarves and warming the house with the oven and boots and snuggling under warm blankets. Oh well… all I can hope for now is that the weather outside is short-lived because I am not ready … Continue reading »

I am spending most of my energy thinking about the special that we have coming up – my husband’s birthday (which I did such a poor job of celebrating last year that I had to call for a do-over) and one of our favorite fall traditions – Halloween! I have no idea what I will … Continue reading »

Saturday is when I tend to have time to think through what to eat in the coming days and subsequent week. I bust out the vegetarian cookbooks, visit the downtown library stacks for inspiration and check out what is buried in my Evernote stash of bookmarked recipes. I also try to keep my actual calendar … Continue reading »

pass the veggies, please

I roasted cauliflower AND brussel sprouts for dinner tonight and realized that we don’t usually have more than one color vegetable on our plate. We’ll have bright salads and stews with a full-on rainbow of phytonutrients, but those meals only happen two to three times a week. The 8yo seems to be in a particularly … Continue reading »

meal plan | week of july 11, 2011

Posted on July 11, 2011 by aneelee • 6 Comments

We have seven weeks left of our summer break which means that it is time for me to step it up. I have ingredients for a full seven meals on hand right now and I am hoping that I can crank through it all by the middle of next week (at the latest) and have lots of leftovers on hand for lunches. Also hoping that I can whip my breakfast planning back into shape.
